Who knew desert chic was in style???
Happy New Year everyone! I know it has been quite a long time since I've entertained you all with my hilarious fashion critiques, but the holidays seemed to have taken over my life for some time. However, I am back and harsher than ever! This past week has been the first of my second semester and great inspiration! As I cleverly titled this blog, I am hoping that you are all aware of the show What Not To Wear on TLC. Well, as I walked into my Humans in the Enviornment class (daunting, I know) I truly felt like Stacey and Clinton were going to bust into the lecture hall and ambush my professor that very second. I understand that those who love science are more than likely off their rockers just a bit, but just because you lived in the wild doing experiments, doesn't mean that you can live the rest of your life wearing cargo pants! Being in the field of science certainly does not mean that you have to look like a character from Jurassic Park! I mean, you might as well just attach a sign to yourself proclaiming "Single Forever" across your chest! I know how harsh that sounds but it just pains me to see one of the ugliest outfits out there. Honestly people, it doesnt matter what field you choose to be in, ALWAYS LOOK PRESENTABLE!!!! I promise you, there are clothes out there that are funtional and fashionable! Uhhhh.....ok I hope you all have seen my point and please lets leave the desert boots at home, shall we?

Tis the season...
The best part about this Holiday season, in my personal opinion, is that the clothing and shoe possibilites are endless. Especially, a great pair of boots. A perfect pair of these winter classics go with just about anything...or so I thought. This past Monday, I met my cousin Stephanie for lunch and then we headed to Starbucks for an afternoon pick-me-up. As I waited in line to give my order, I saw the worst thing an avid boot lover could see: CROC BOOTS!! Now, I am sorry to any croc-wearer that I might be offending, but are you kidding me?? You might as well put large white marshmellows on your feet! Uh, sometimes I just really cant understand what possesses people to buy such ugly things. Like, they have to know how hiddeous those shoes are, right? My only request is, please, that under no circumstances, buy any shoe with the Croc logo on it, and instead search more. You'll find other boots, trust me.
( Did you want whip cream on your shoes--ehh, I mean Frappeccino?)

A look for less
Now, I know I am not the only one who loves to splurge a little on a new article of clothing, but an expensive shirt or bottoms doesn't mean anything, if the piece is ugly. Just because something is expensive DOES NOT mean that it looks good! Yes, it might have cost a small fortune and be a Marc Jacobs, but if it is puke green, flowy with brown flowers on it, its just hideous. There is no shame in finding the cutest shirt at Forever 21 or at Macy's. For example, my roommate Meghan found the most adorable black, empire waist blouse at Target and it looks so good on her! I just think that everyone shouldn't focus on price or the designer and rather focus on how it looks, not only on the hanger, but on yourself!

The Canadian Tuxedo is NEVER a good idea!
I realize that we all love jeans. I mean, they are the staple to everyones wardrobe. However, pairing them with a jean jacket or jean shirt is never ok (seriously, never). I'm not quite sure who coined the phrase "Canadian Tuxedo" but it is quite apporpriate. Who would ever look into their closet and say "oh ya know? Imma wear my jean shirt and my favoirte pair of jeans". Like, that just shouldn't even be an option! Fortunately for all of you readers, Nick, one of my friends here at school, snapped a picture of this jean-tastic combination and hopefully you can all see the ugliness of this outfit (yes, even if it is from behind). Hopefully, during the holiday season this person can work some color to their wardrobe.

So here I go!
Before I start ripping up people's fashion choices, let me explain to all of you how this crazy idea formed. I have always had an eye for fashion and for people watching (come on, who doesn't like to do that?) and my roommate, Meghan thought it would be a wonderful idea for me to create a blog sharing my ideas on why you really shouldnt be wearing ballet flats with socks. At first, I thought she had fallen off her rocker but the more I thought about it, I thought "why not?". So, this soon-to-be awsome blog has officially started!
For my first critique, I'll go easy on everyone. Ladies and Gentleman, I know the weather has gotten pretty chilly out but really? At 39 degrees, flipflops and shorts are just not weather appropriate. You're not fooling anyone! We all know you are freezing your butt off! I mean it is December and I can't believe I even had to write about this issue because I guess I just figured it was common knowledge. However, I was clearly mistaken. And so I ask all of you gulity ones, for the next couple of months, please just stick to closed toe shoes and jeans. That way we will both feel better!
